The Wild Country Helm Elite 2 is the lightest tent in the Helm series — built for backpackers who want more space without extra weight. At just 2.05kg, it offers a roomy two-person layout with dual porches and doors, all in a compact, easily carried pack.
Its semi-geodesic design and high-spec waterproof fabrics deliver impressive stability and weather protection across 3 seasons, while the inner and outer pitch together for fast setup in wet conditions. The Helm Elite 2 also features lighter poles, premium flysheet materials, and a smaller pack size (30x17cm) compared to the standard Helm Compact.
Perfect for wild camping duos or solo hikers who value livability, reliability, and low weight, the Helm Elite 2 is a go-anywhere tent that handles real UK conditions with ease.
"The Wild Country Helm Elite 2 has just been announced as a finalist for the 2025 Outdoor Industry Awards, and it's easy to see why!"

All Wild Country tents come with a 2-year guarantee on materials and craftsmanship, plus a 2-year No Quibble alloy pole replacement guarantee for added peace of mind.
Ordered this tent, rented a sleeping bag and cooking kit from here with some meals. Absolute breeze, wanted to get back to wild camping for a while and this was actually the perfect way to start. Great way to test out new gear or get started. Couldnt recommend enough.
The Wild Country Elite 2 meets all my requirements.
It is not as light as many of the big names but weight was not too much of a concern as the heaviest thing on my bike is me! I have no doubt that during my cycle I will lose the odd few hundred grams the others save.
It is small enough to fit on my handlebars. I purchased a Pro Discover 8l handlebar bag from another independent UK retailer for £27 including delivery. (So all in I have a full bikepacking set up for about £350).
The poles when collapsed measure 33cm, which means if packed carefully that will be the length of the stuff sack. (Once packed into the Pro Discover bag the full size is 37 x 16 but I could probably lose an extra cm in length of needed).
It is simple and intuitive to pitch. Take the poles out, open them up and insert them through the colour coded channels. Inserting the blue one first. Insert the pole ends into tabs and then position as you wish. (You can pick the whole thing up as it is fully freestanding). Then peg it out.
The inner is attached to the fly sheet so there is no messing about with outer then inner or vice versa. Obviously this means you can't separate the two if the weather is really hot. It also means that when it is raining everything should stay dry as you pitch it.
It is definitely large enough for me. I have plenty of room either end when laying flat and I can sit up in it. The sleeping compartment is rectangular where many of the other tents I considered tapered at one end.
It will fit two people although I haven't fully tested that.
The vestibules are large enough for my needs. They are not as large as some.
The quality of the tent appears pretty good. It seems fairly sturdy, although the real test will be my bikepacking trip to Spain.
I also like the fact that it has pretty good environmental aspects.
I am yet to fully test it for overnight stays in different weather.
